WILLIE BELL PHILYOR

Pictured below from left to right is Elease Varner, Willie Bell Philyor, and Mary Beechim. Ms. Willie Bell Philyor is holding one of the family quilts she made.

Ms. Willie Bell Philyor has lived her life in the service of her community. She has been an active member of the Springfield A.M.E. Church since she was 17, and even became an ordained minister. After moving to St. Petersburg, Florida with her husband to find work, she began visiting prisoners to share the word of God in hopes of giving them peace and set them on a new path. Now back in Campbellton, she keeps herself busy by making quilts as gifts, spending time with family, and has an annual family reunion around her birthday.

In the video below Ms. Willie Bell Philyor discusses common dishes her family cooks and the annual family reunion to celebrate her birthday with family and friends.
